Stewartry Top Ten Final

Castle Douglas completed the treble last night at Dalbeattie. In the Trophy Shop sponsored Top Ten Final they had a 8- 0 win over New Abbey. The weather was not very good but the players put on good display of bowling. In the Singles Steven Richardson and Keith Shuttleworth had a very close game, with Steven coming from behind to win 21 - 19. The Pairs was another very good game with some great bowling by all four players but Alan and Scott Davies were just to strong for Les and Neil Shuttleworth and won by 19 - 10. The triples was a very close match for the first 10 ends with only 10 shots scored at 5 - 5, but William Brydson, Stewart Gilmour and Allan Green eventually got the better of Oliver Clingan, Robert Bryden and William Mair. In the Fours the New Abbey rink of William Neville, Chris Scales, John Bigham and Alex Gibson were always going to find it difficult against the talent packed rink from Castle Douglas, Alan McLeod, Hugh Robertson, William Green and Stevie Conchar were convincing winners 22 - 10.

The play downs for the County Singles was held today at a wet and blustery Dalbeattie. The green was playing well despite the weather and a good standard of bowling was on display. In the first semi final John McGaw beat his club mate William Green 21 - 16. In the other semi final, to make it an all Castle Douglas final Hugh Robertson beat Darren Simpson 21 - 16. Thanks to Dalbeattie for hosting todays event and to Maureen and Harry for making some great bacon rolls.
